Together with the Stadtbahn (suburban rail services using tram trains, able to run in the city centre) this system is in constant development, and has been proved successfully in other medium sized cities, like Alicante in Spain, as it mixes the traditional tramway but extended to suburban, even regional areas. August 2017 Aquí presento un breve vídeo de mi visita a Karlsruhe, Alemania, donde pude viajar en su sistema metropolitano llamado Stadtbahn, cuyo concepto es de tranvía adaptado para circular tanto en ciudad como usando las vías de ferrocarril estatal (Deutsche Bahn) dando cobertura a poblaciones relativamente lejanas a la ciudad principal. Un sistema en el cual está inspirado el TRAM Metropolitano de Alicante.
