Marriage today can feel harder than ever for many young Muslims. With rising expectations, financial pressures, social media comparisons, and the fear of not being “ready enough”, many young people delay marriage or feel like it is something impossible to achieve. But marriage was never meant to be a perfect, unreachable goal. It is a journey that two people take together while seeking the pleasure of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ understood the challenges young people face and encouraged them towards marriage. He ﷺ said: “O young men, whoever among you can afford it, let him get married, for it helps lower the gaze and guard one's chastity...” (Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim) Islam does not tell us to wait until we have everything in this dunya. It teaches us to take the means, make effort, and put our trust in Allah. If marriage is something you desire, start working towards it. Work on your character. Improve your finances. Strengthen your relationship with Allah. Become the person you hope to marry. Do not let the difficulties of the modern world convince you that marriage is impossible. What Allah has made halal is full of blessings, and when two people come together for His sake, Allah can place barakah in what they build. Take the first steps. Make dua. Seek advice. Have courage. Your future spouse is written for you — but you still have a responsibility to strive for it.
