Schema-Nun Margarita—Mother Frosya, as she was known for many years—was the only one of the fifteen hundred nuns and novices of the Diveyevo Monastery, destroyed in the 1920s. She was the only nun chosen by the Supreme Abbess of Diveyevo—the Most Holy Theotokos—for the most important obedience: to bring about a spiritual connection between the ages. Through long decades of official atheism, the hell of the NKVD camps, persecution, and wandering, she, with monastic humility, carried on and passed on to the current generation of Diveyevo nuns the living memory and true spirit of the original Diveyevo Monastery.
