The Vevor Inverter vs a 1500W Water Heater

In this video I test whether a low-cost 6 kW Vevor inverter can run a 120 volt hot water heater using solar only, with no battery connected. The goal here is simple. I want to see if a small off-grid inverter can directly power a resistive load like a water heater using only PV input, and more importantly, what happens when solar drops off. Does the inverter shut down cleanly? Does it recover on its own when the sun comes back up? Or does it need a manual reset? For this test I’m using a 1500 watt 120V heating element connected through a 5 kVA isolation transformer. The inverter is fed by about 1600 watts of solar, and I intentionally run it near its limit to see how it behaves. No battery support, no buffering, just raw PV input. This setup gives a good real-world look at whether a low cost inverter can be used for simple thermal loads like water heating, and whether it can recover automatically after a low-power event. It also highlights some of the limitations and quirks you need to understand before trying something like this yourself. This is not a how-to or a recommendation.
