I wanted to make something gentle, respectful, and personal for America 250, with the American flag as a symbol of gratitude, freedom, and a place that means a lot to me. Kitty got her big American flag, and of course she understood it in her own Kitty way: not as a flag, but as a huge cozy blanket she could crawl under, sniff, explore, and relax with. Later she enjoyed her favorite treat on it, and we also went outside for a calm walk to enjoy the day together. There was also a small accident with Kitty’s paw, so in some moments you can see her wearing a collar or a little bandage to stop her from licking it. Thankfully, she is doing much better now, and that made this day feel even more meaningful. Sometimes celebration is not about everything being perfect. Sometimes it is about being grateful that things are getting better.
