An extraordinary life story of Milarepa who conquered Mount Kailash According to Hindu belief, Mount Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva. Mentioned in the Vedas and the epic Ramayana, this divine mountain is believed to be the stairway to heaven. It is still considered unattainable for man to reach the top of this mountain, which is considered a holy place by Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikh religions. Many climbers who attempted this had to give up halfway and turn back. The number of people who have conquered the 8848 meter high Everest peak will be more than six thousand. But Kailash, which is only 6638 meters high, has been climbed so far by only one person. That person was Milarepa, a Tantric Buddhist teacher who lived in Tibet in the 11th century. Tibetans believe that Milarepa is the only modern man to have climbed Mount Kailash. Today we tell the story of Milarepa, one of the greatest spiritual masters in the history of Tibetan Buddhism.
