Tolkien, the author of The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion, not just as a fantasy writer, but as a Christian thinker whose life was shaped by suffering, war, and faith. From the death of his parents, to the trenches of World War One, to his deep Catholic conviction, Tolkien learned how to pierce darkness with light.
