After sustaining a head injury in 2006, Derek was diagnosed with a very rare condition referred to as “acquired savant syndrome”, or “sudden musical genius”. He has appeared on numerous television programs including the Steve Harvey Show, Doctor Oz, AM Canada and is currently sharing his testimony on The Discovery Science Channels “Ingenious Minds” series.
