Rubigi Wetland restoration - Over 1,000 people evicted from Rubigi Wetland
National Environment Management Authority has started an operation to evict all people who encroach on wetlands in Uganda. The operation conducted in partnership with Kampala capital city authority and environmental police has seen about 1000 people evicted from Lubigi Wetland in Bulenga Mityana road. The manager environmental protection force Maj. Joshua Karamagi said they are to come up with an extensive restoration plan to stop reoccurrences of encroachment and put the wetland back to its natural form.
