Prof. Henning Tegtmeyer - "Why Christianity Needs Metaphysics"

Delivered at the KU Leuven Institute of Philosophy on December 16, 2015 as part of the Leuven Newman Society's "Faith & Reason" series. Taking adherence to the Creed as a minimal definition of "Christianity", Prof. Tegtmeyer clarifies various senses of "metaphysics" and then goes on to discuss which senses may or may not be necessary for Christian faith. He also considers why some philosophies are more (or less) compatible with Christian faith, and why a Christian might philosophize, emphasizing as he does so the criterion of the unity of truth. For the Lumen Christi (Chicago) debate between Rémi Brague and Jean-Luc Marion on a similar theme ("Does Christianity Need Metaphysics?"), see here:    • Does Christianity Need Metaphysics?   For more LNS events, subscribe to us on facebook and visit us at http://newmanleuven.be/.
