Chartwell Chats presents 'Churchill's Horses'

The second edition of Chartwell Chats is now available. As we look towards celebrating the 150th anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill’s birth in 2024, I am delighted to be able to introduce you to the second edition of Chartwell Chats, a brand new series published on YouTube. Over the next two years, leading historians and experts will explore Sir Winston Churchill's relationship with Chartwell through the property's collections and historic moments in time. Chartwell was the Churchill’s home for over 40 years and was opened to the public in 1966, one year after Winston’s death. As one of the greatest leaders of the twentieth century, his image and reputation still hold international significance. His family home welcomes over 250,000 visitors a year for a uniquely personal glimpse into the private life of this great statesman. It was a place to work, paint, write and entertain friends away from the pressures of political life in London. In the second of our series, Katherine Carter, Property Curator at Chartwell and Brough Scott, journalist, broadcaster and author of the critically acclaimed Churchill at the Gallop, explore Winston Churchill's relationship with horses and the hugely important role they played throughout his life. Chartwell Chats was developed and is jointly presented by the National Trust Chartwell and The International Churchill Society UK - working together to preserve the historic legacy of Sir Winston Churchill.
