Born in Sri Lanka in April 1945. Ordained at the age of 13. He teaches Buddhist philosophy at the National University of Kelaniya. He came to Japan as a government-sponsored student in 1980. After completing his doctoral studies at Komazawa University, he currently works as a Buddhist missionary and meditation instructor at the Japan Theravada Buddhist Association.
