Forging iridium Damascus KNIFE from SPARK PLUGS!
Forging iridium Damascus KNIFE from SPARK PLUGS! #DamascusKnife #Bladesmithing #SparkPlugDamascus #IridiumBlade #Forging #CustomKnife #blacksmith The journey to creating this Iridium Damascus was brutal. It started with the painstaking process of collecting and cleaning dozens of plugs, then removing the delicate ceramic insulator pieces (a surprisingly difficult and messy job!). We meticulously stacked the casings to form a starter billet, relying on the carbon and trace elements from the internal electrodes to hopefully create that beautiful contrast. You'll see the full pattern-welding process, including five intense fold cycles at over 2,300. demonstrating how we overcame the challenges of welding a potentially contaminated billet. The goal was to achieve a minimum of 320 distinct layers to really bring out the unique texture the spark plug steel provides. I also detail the specific flux and welding temperatures needed to keep this high-risk billet from disintegrating! The final blade geometry is a sturdy and it features an incredibly unique Damascus pattern unlike anything I've ever forged. The remnants of the plug's structure gave the layers a surprising depth and texture. The handle is made from the wood .. Thank for watching sharing and liking the video
