Saturday, September 20th hike This season's last 3,000-meter hike (perhaps), culminating in a beautiful route in the Stura Valley. After Bagni di Vinadio, we continue until we reach the hamlet of San Bernolfo, where, after two hairpin bends and about 300 meters of dirt road, we leave the car in the large parking lot. We head towards the Lower and Upper Lausfer Lakes, initially following a comfortable dirt road that then becomes a trail. Up to the basin where the lakes are located, the route is of hiking difficulty and covers almost 1,000 meters of elevation gain without ever being too steep. From the lakes onward, the section begins to steepen at first and then gradually becomes more technical, becoming a route for experienced hikers. We continue on slippery terrain until we reach the base of the pass known as "the marmot hole" (or marmot pass): this is a passage along a rocky gully equipped with rungs, created following a landslide. A large boulder covered the end of the pass (the eastern fork of Corborant), creating this hole, which over time has been equipped to facilitate the ascent. At the exit, a final section marked by red markers and equipped with chains allows you to reach Cima Corborant (3,007 m above sea level). From here, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Stura Valley on one side (with the Lausfer Lakes and the Migliorero Refuge, on the shores of the lower Ischiator Lake) and the French side on the other, with the Rabuons Lakes, Lac Chaffour, and Lac du Cimon. The day is so clear that we can see Monte Rosa and, of course, a splendid Monviso!
