Follow us:   / rundellassociates   – Located between two wonderful vineyards, the estate is situated in 130 acres of pine trees, olive groves and lavender plantations. The main villa has been progressively refurbished over several years along with the adjacent guest houses and gardens. The house had originally been rebuilt in 1990, at which point a basement had been constructed but never fully fitted out. Work in the basement of the main villa has included the creation of a rosewood cinema with seating designed by Bill Amberg, addition of a gym, spa and massage room and a billiard room with adjacent children’s hang-out area. On the upper floors the main rooms have been refurbished to create an open and fresh atmosphere that takes advantage of the Tuscan views and light. New air conditioning has been added; a back-of-house kitchen courtyard has been reimagined as a pizza courtyard; a Mediterranean garden with a rustic pergola now leads to a new tennis court; gardener’s outbuildings have been constructed; a small play house in the grounds has been turned into an occasional rest area and external lighting has been designed and installed throughout the estate. The two guest houses were remodelled to produce additional bedrooms while the bathrooms were updated using local marble and handmade tiles. Externally a new driveway and gates were introduced to improve access to the estate and underground ducting and drainage was introduced to prevent flood damage. Work is underway to restore the formal gardens originally designed by Arabella Lenox Boyd, and to develop new areas including a citrus garden and additional lavender and olive groves.
