I know that it can be difficult to keep up with many of the political and historical events that make up over 1400 years of documented ancient Assyrian history. To help you out, I’ve created this summary to give you a general idea of the role that the kingdoms and empires of Assyria played in the history of the ancient world, especially the Near East. It's an incredible story of how the people of a relatively insignificant city-state became one of the greatest superpowers of their time.
