On September 25, 2025, the day after the event, I learned that the program had changed and future projects had been canceled or scaled back. I had a free day, which I used to explore the city. I took a taxi from the Rodina Hotel, where I was staying, to the center of Rostov-on-Don. First, I visited the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, where St. John of Kronstadt celebrated Divine Liturgies twice. This cathedral is where the relics of St. John of Kronstadt are kept. When pilgrims came to St. John of Kronstadt and said they were from Rostov-on-Don, he would reply, "Why are you coming to me? You have your own John. St. John." On September 7, 2025, St. John was canonized and his relics were transferred to the Cathedral. So, that was just two weeks ago. Then I walked through Gorky Park and the surrounding area. That evening, I had a wonderful time at a good Uzbek restaurant and in pleasant company. 😊 My walk through Rostov-on-Don left behind the warmest impressions and fondest memories, even though I arrived here during very turbulent times.
