I learned some things quickly, since my father was a professional cyclist when I was born and later a masseur for professional teams, so I was born surrounded by bikes and, like any good kid, I observed my father's reflection. I've been thinking about it a bit: what things do I know now that I really wish I had learned much earlier? What about not wearing underwear under cycling shorts? This is a common misconception among cyclists. At first, it feels strange to wear cycling shorts or bib shorts without any other layer underneath. Trust me! Cycling shorts are designed to be worn directly against the skin. Wearing underwear in between will only cause unwanted chafing. We're nearing the end of the season, but we still have some great races that are proving to be very competitive. Let's look at some results: Paris-Tours This year's edition featured a new 13-kilometer section of gravel roads in an attempt to break up a mass sprint. These sections were concentrated in the last 60 kilometers of the 214-kilometer race. The victory went to Dane Soren Kragh Andersen of Team Sunweb, finishing ahead of Niki Terpstra and Frenchman Benoit Cosnefroy. Thomas De Gendt is fantastic. The Belgian cyclist from Lotto-Soudal, one of the most combative in the peloton, will return home from the Giro di Lombardia to Belgium, covering the 1,000 kilometers on his Ridley Helium, the brand's lightweight model, which he showed off on his social media with the necessary gear for his trip. His teammate Tim Wellens will accompany him. Who's going to buy a bike from them at the end of the year? Alberto Contador is still in top form and is proving it through his social media and Strava. On Tuesday, he shattered the best time on the climb to Bola del Mundo, an extension of the climb to Puerto de Navacerrada, which was a stage finish in the 2010 and 2012 Vuelta a España. And I have the honor of being the first to know, since I got the "Uh Oh" meme. Should he try to beat it again? He's truly set an unbeatable record. Shouldn't he go racing again?
