One of the earliest ESPN monthly promos found so far. The network was struggling financially in 1983 and lost several sporting events rights to competitors (USA Networks, TBS). Getty Oil (then majority owner of ESPN) decided to offer 2 hours of business news in the morning to attract more advertisers and women. so Business Times was launched (replaced by Nation's Business Today in 1984). ESPN would only go back to 100% sports in 1991. Top commercials include: Panasonic camera and portable VCR, Panasonic Ambience Sound boom box with Earth, Wind & Fire, Zenith televisions, Return of the Jedi, Federal Express with Ned Ryerson (Stephen Tobolowsky), Ben-Gay with Ivan Lendl, Jello Pudding Pops with Bill Cosby, American Airlines (first AAdvantage ad), United Airlines, Exxon Office Systems, Xerox, IBM Personal Computer, IBM laser scanner for supermarkets, Heinz ketchup vs Hunt's, Head & Shoulders, Renault cars, Gatorade, McDonald's, KFC, Fruit Of The Loom underwear, GM, Mercedes Benz, Dodge, US Armed Forces, Gillette Foamy, Gillette Atra, Skoal snuff, Pennzoil with Arnold Palmer, Quaker State motor oil, Bausch & Lomb soft contact lenses with Cris Collingsworth, Howard Johnson's Hotel, Canon Cameras with Joe Theisman, Honda ATVs, Budweiser, Budweiser Light (earlier name of Bud Light), Michelob, Coca-Cola with Keanu Reeves.
