Mind-numbing Abstract Painting Technique and Demo - The Carteret

The story behind this painting and my break... The reason it's been 208 days since my last video is because of this painting. After I finished the square gradient path around the outside (c. July 2022), I started to work on the "tentacles," if you will, and.... I hated it. For some reason they just weren't speaking my language and I hit a wall of frustration due to the painting, that I had a lot of excitement for, turning into a dud. I spent months walking by this piece on the table and not having any clue what to do with it or whether or not to just gesso over the top and use the canvas for something else. The stubbornness in me refused to let all of the time spray painting that square go to waste, so gesso wasn't an option. Fast forward to the new year and I told myself - just finish it so you can start a new one. So that's what I did. Once the last "tentacle" goes on in the video is where I started up again, roughly a week ago. So there you have it. It's been 208 days since my last video, but I should be on track to put out at least another 8-10 before the school year is over and I hit my summer break. Hope you enjoy, Jason
