19th Century Sabre : Opportunity, Protection, & Threat
A brief discussion of simple opportunity based theory for historical fencing. The aim is to simplify fencing to provide a simple framework which looks at preventing or exploiting opportunities through protection or threat. By targeting a relatively small number off opportunities, and being mindful of them while fencing, we can make rapid progress as fencers. While the idea is system agnostic and can be used for any fencing system, it's demonstrated in this video using 19th century fencing, largely in the style of Waite, though with ideas from other sources thrown in.
