Rail traffic in Serbia - Freight trains - EMD and old ČKD diesel locos (Pančevo to Novi Sad) [4K]

The northern part of Serbia, Vojvodina has the highly branched network of railway lines. Most of these lines are without traffic and in very poor condition. Belgrade - Novi Sad - Subotica is one of the main transit routes for freight railway traffic in Serbia. Due to multiyear infrastructural works on the main railway line and the construction of a new line parts between Belgrade and Novi Sad, whole freight traffic was redirected to an alternative route via Pancevo and Orlovat. The old lines Pancevo - Orlovat and Orlovat - Novi Sad are partially maintained and innovated to support all freight traffic from main corridor. These are old non-electrified lines. There are infrastructure facilities such as bridges and stations dating back to the Austro-Hungarian railway period. All rail traffic is done with old EMD G16 and ČKD diesel locomotives. The EMD G16 is a diesel locomotive at Serbian Railways known as "Kenedy locomotive" series 661. That famous diesel locomotive is known for its specific engine and horn sound and powerful appearance. It was used by the state railway company (Serbia Cargo). Private railway companies, like Kombinovani Prevoz and Despotija, mostly use old Czechoslovak locomotives. It took over 2 years of recording and collecting material to make this video.
