She added that her son always knew that Lenny was going to be a star, which Marla told Lenny later on after he had success with his music career. Moving along, Marla spoke about getting the rights to the play "227" at the advice of her daughter and later developing a sitcom with The Jeffersons producer Norman Lear. During the conversation, Marla spoke about becoming an executive producer on the show and putting together the cast, including breakout star Jackée Harry.
