Hubei Province was the biggest battleground during the Three Kingdoms period, so much so that it was depicted as the background for about 70% of 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms'! The journey begins in Wuhan (武漢), a hub of land, sea, and air transportation known as 'Guchengtonggu', which means 'passage connecting nine provinces'. Huang He Lou (黄鶴樓), a landmark in Wuhan and called the 'best pavilion on the rivers and mountains of the world', is a watchtower built by Sun Quan, king of the Wu Dynasty during the Three Kingdoms period, in preparation for the war with the Shu Dynasty. When you climb to the top, you can see at a glance the land in the central plains that the three kingdoms each tried to occupy. Looking at the panoramic view, I feel the feelings of the heroes who had the ambition to unify the world. Guishan Sanguocheng (Guishan Three Kingdoms City), the Three Kingdoms Park, is built on Guishan across the Huanghe Lou River. Along the ridge road, there are over 100 life-like statues of heroes from the Three Kingdoms from 1,800 years ago! We look back on the situation of the three powers, Cao Cao, Sun Quan, and Liu Bei, before the Battle of Red Cliffs. Hubei Province boasts excellent mountainous terrain, with more than half of its area being mountainous. While taking a walk along a vertical rock wall that resembles a folding screen, I found an unidentifiable house perched on top of a cliff. The appearance is reminiscent of the retreat of Sima Hui, a scholar who refused to hold a government position and lived a secluded life! As if drawn by a strange atmosphere, he heads there, but ends up getting lost. While walking aimlessly, I happened to meet a family. They offer tea with bright smiles and even serve warm food. I feel the importance of relationships. There is a hero who changed his life through such a coincidence, and it is none other than Yubi! He feels pressured by Cao Cao, who has absorbed all the forces in the north and begun his advance south, but while wandering without a proper support base, he accidentally meets teacher Sima Hui and hears about Zhuge Liang, the Dragon of War. So, I visited him three times to recruit him. We visit Gurungjung (古隆中), the site of the famous 'Three Goes and Choryeo', and look into the beginning of history, when Liu Bei was reborn from pennilessness to the ruler of the Shu dynasty. After much effort, Liu Bei hired Zhuge Liang as his agent. However, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei did not like Zhuge Liang. In 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms', there is a battle in which Zhuge Liang immediately dispelled the distrust of Liu Bei's army, and that is the Battle of Baomangpa (博望坡)!
