Historic Abbott Falls 1800's Mill Site Candia , NH.

The property is named after the Abbott family, a lineage of 19th-century farmers who originally cleared and settled this rugged pocket of Candia. The Abbotts managed the homestead and used the surrounding natural water resources to support their agricultural operations and livestock. The Stone Dam: Early in the 1800s, a dry-laid stone dam and spillway were engineered across the stream. This structure created what is now known as Chivers Pond to power local machinery. The Twin Mills: The location evolved into a dual-industrial hub featuring Emerson’s Mill and Patten’s Mill. These mills functioned as local saw and gristmills, relying entirely on the gravity-fed water from the stone spillway. Current Status: Today, the site functions as Abbott Falls Weddings. It operates as an entirely off-grid, 100% outdoor venue nestled inside a dense hardwood forest a mile away from the nearest modern residence.
