Two Plonkers Go Riding - DRZ4S or KTM 390 End R?

Me and Ben headed out for a quick pre Christmas ride on the local lanes. Very wet out. Hardly the most conclusive test of these two bikes but I've spent some time on them both now and for me the 'best' all rounder is the KTM. The DRZ is clearly a very capable trail bike in the right hands on the right trails, but here in North Devon there's not much to separate the two - and in fact the lower seat height of the 390 actually helps it in a lot of instances - whilst the KTM also shines on the road. As trail/travel bike, it would have to be the KTM, especially given the price difference; £5700 plays £8000. The Suzuki is good, but for bashing around the lanes - where it's best suited - would you not be better on a scruffy old trail bike you didn't care about, or a lighter weight enduro bike? Arguably so. Other verdicts may differ.
