Frank Gehry At the Parsons Table with Paul Goldberger | Parsons School of Design
Parsons School of Design (http://www.newschool.edu/parsons) at The New School (http://www.newschool.edu) is proud to host Frank Gehry At The Parsons Table with Paul Goldberger in partnership with The Guggenheim Museum (http://www.guggenheim.org). One of the most inventive and pioneering architects working today, Frank Gehry's buildings have become world-renowned attractions in their own right and include The Disney Concert Hall, home of the Los Angeles philharmonic, 8 Spruce Street in New York City, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and the Louis Vuitton Foundation building in Paris. Recently, Gehry has agreed to design the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial in Washington D.C. and to undertake the redesign of the LA River. In this intimate, one-on-one conversation, Paul Goldberger, Pulitzer Prize winning architectural critic and Joseph Urban Chair in Design and Architecture at Parsons, will engage Gehry on his life and work. Paul Goldberger is now a Contributing Editor at Vanity Fair. From 1997 through 2011 he served as the Architecture Critic for The New Yorker, where he wrote the magazine’s celebrated “Sky Line” column. He was formerly Dean of the Parsons School of Design. He began his career at The New York Times, where in 1984 his architecture criticism was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Distinguished Criticism, the highest award in journalism. This event is sponsored by the Dean's Office of Parsons School of Design (http://www.newschool.edu/parsons). At the Parsons Table is an on-going series of conversational interviews with cultural luminaries hosted by Pulitzer-Prize winning author and Parsons faculty member Paul Goldberger, well-known for his contributions to Vanity Fair and The New Yorker. These conversations provide exclusive insights into the creative process and innovative thinking of artists, designers, and industry leaders. At the Parsons Table guests have included such icons as Ralph Lauren, Mickey Drexler, Robert Wong, Frank Gehry, Chuck Close, Bruce Mau, and Donna Karan. Location: John L. Tishman Auditorium, University Center Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
