The Potter's Patient Preparation

In this message from Amos 4, we meet a comfortable, prosperous, and religiously active people who kept missing God right in the middle of their own blessings. The prophet exposes a hard truth: comfort can quietly harden a heart, and religious routine can exist without any real repentance. Five times God disciplines His people to draw them back to Himself, and five times they refuse — a haunting refrain that forces us to ask whether we've ever responded to God's discipline with irritation instead of humility. But this sermon doesn't leave us under the weight of the warning. It moves straight to the cross and the empty tomb, where Jesus Christ made the return to God that we never could make on our own. Through His death and resurrection, sinners are made right with a holy God by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone. Amos's closing charge, "prepare to meet your God," becomes not a threat but an invitation to meet Him already clothed in Christ's righteousness. Whether you're walking through a hard season, feeling spiritually routine, or simply need to be reminded of the Gospel again, this message calls you to stop merely enduring and start returning. Join us as we look honestly at our own hearts and find, once again, that grace is greater than our wandering.
