Per la sua collocazione sul territorio, Venasca è stata nei tempi passati un punto di riferimento per il commercio locale. È posta infatti alla confluenza della valle laterale di Isasca che attraverso la colletta di Brondello conduce a Saluzzo, e alla valletta laterale di Rossana che attraverso la strada per colletta di Busca conduce alla Valle Maira e ai comuni del Cuneese. Il territorio è prevalentemente montuoso-collinare ed è suddiviso (secondo la denominazione dialettale locale) in due parti: "l'adrit" situato sul versante nord della vallata più esposto al sole in inverno e quindi dal clima migliore, e "l'ubach" contrapposto a sud che nel periodo invernale, è per lungo tempo all'ombra e quindi molto più freddo. Sulla piazzetta di fronte alla parrocchiale sorge un bel palazzo signorile quattrocentesco denominato "La ca dla Tur" (Casa della Torre) dotato di numerosi e pregevoli esempi di antica architettura (altane e colonne in pietra scolpite). Il centro del paese è dominato dall'imponente e maestosa parrocchiale (in stile barocco) di intitolata a Maria Assunta. A pianta ottagonale, e con facciata in cotto, è stata costruita a partire dal 1750. L'interno è ricco di marmi policromi e con affreschi del pittore milanese Pietro Antonio Pozzi. È stata definita "Una tra le più superbamente belle chiese del Piemonte"; infatti può essere considerata uno dei più significativi esempi di architettura barocca del Saluzzese. Incorporato con l'edificio religioso, sorge l'antico Palazzo comunale, eretto fra il 1776 e il 1778 su disegno di Michele Borda, oggi sede dell'Istituto Musicale di Venasca-Valle Varaita. The municipality of Venasca is located at the bottom of the Varaita Valley located to the right of the stream of the same name. Due to its location in the area, Venasca was in the past a point of reference for local trade. It is in fact located at the confluence of the lateral valley of Isasca which leads to Saluzzo through the Brondello pass, and to the lateral Rossana valley which leads to the Maira Valley and the municipalities of the Cuneo area through the road to the Busca pass. In the small square in front of the parish church stands a beautiful fifteenth-century stately building called "La ca dla Tur" (House of the Tower) equipped with numerous and valuable examples of ancient architecture (roofs and sculpted stone columns). The center of the town is dominated by the imposing and majestic parish church (in Baroque style) dedicated to Maria Assunta. With an octagonal plan and a terracotta façade, it was built starting from 1750. The interior is rich in polychrome marble and with frescoes by the Milanese painter Pietro Antonio Pozzi. It has been defined as "One of the most superbly beautiful churches in Piedmont"; in fact it can be considered one of the most significant examples of baroque architecture in the Saluzzo area. Incorporated with the religious building, stands the ancient Town Hall, built between 1776 and 1778 based on a design by Michele Borda, today home to the Venasca-Valle Varaita Musical Institute. The Sanctuary of Santa Lucia stands in an isolated position, among some villages on the sunny side of the Municipality of Venasca, on a promontory in a good panoramic position. The bell tower flanks the main facade and the entire building is surrounded by a portico, built in two different eras.
