RYKER: Alignment Update #3

Today is re-alignment day for the Ryker! James Thorne made room in his schedule to work on my Ryker today, so I'm going despite the nasty weather. Skip to the end of the description for clickable time indexes. #canam #ryker #rykerrally First and foremost, I would like to thank James at Thornolis.com for doing another fantastic alignment on my Ryker! If you're in the Houston area and you need any work performed on your Can-Am Spyder or Ryker, then James is definitely the man to call! However, the end result was worth the pain and suffering. James put my bike on the lift and immediately started shaking his head in disbelief... my Ryker had ~2.5" (64mm) of toe-OUT instead of ~0.5" (13mm) of toe-IN! That means my bike was running around with ~3.0" of toe-out relative to the correct settings... YIKES! 😲 It's no wonder that it was darting all over the road and chewing up the tires! James reset my alignment to 0.5" of toe-in as a starting point, and then he checked all of the suspension and steering components for loose or worn parts. We found the swaybar frame bushing clamps were very loose, so James tightened those while we had it up on the lift. He did a fantastic and thorough job working on my Ryker, and now it's back to better-than-new handling again. My Ryker still has a nervous twitch (more than other Rykers that I've ridden), but it's completely tolerable and I can get back to riding and enjoying the bike! James wouldn't let me pay him for his work, but that fight isn't over... he's gonna get paid one way or another! 😉👍 Time indexes: 0:00 Leaving the warehouse for a 30-mile ride in near-freezing temperatures! 2:52 Failed plans for a live stream at Thornoli's... my apologies to anyone that tuned in! 4:11 Riding in this weather is risky and PAINFUL! 8:15 James has my Ryker on the lift and it's WAY out of spec! 11:07 Inspecting the suspension components for loose or worn parts 14:54 Looking under the bike, windage tray, and oil change mistake by dealer 17:21 Road test after the alignment... it's MUCH BETTER now! 👏👍 26:00 Leaving Thornoli's and headed back home on the slower roads 29:49 Have I mentioned that it's REALLY cold today? Ouch, ouch, ouch. -- QM [email protected]
