What the Statute of Limitations Means to You

With unlimited funds, I would have made this video with a soundtrack, and yes, my first choice would have been Europe's "It's the Final Countdown." But as you know, I cannot spend money on soundtracks for these educational videos, so you'll just have to imagine it. The root question here is: how long does the State have to press charges against we citizens? The answer is, that depends. But the good news is that we have a law in place that forces the prosecutor to move. We call that law the statute of limitations. The Statute of LImitations is a tricky subject. Its complex. Heck, I would say that many of my fellow attorneys do not really understand it. I know I didn't understand it when I started defending criminal cases back in 1993, but I've learned quite a bit about the statute of limitations since then and in this video, you're going to learn exactly how we win a motion to dismiss based upon a violation of the Statute of Limitations.
