Restored railroad: Grafton & Upton switching Upton, MA Rail Yard - 3/22/2024
In this video we see the Grafton & Upton Railroad switching out cars at their rail yard in Upton, MA. Since reactivation in 2009 the yard has continuously been expanded beyond its historic footprint to handle freight. The G&U is a rare success story of a shortline that was basically abandoned with just one customer left when new ownership took over in 2008. Since then the railroad has been restored end to end and expanded to Franklin. Their various facilities have also been expanded and upgraded to handle more freight after decades of no use.
