https://4wheel24.de/ 4wheel- Truck & Technik GmbH Eisenhammer 14 97907 Hasloch Phone: +49 (0) 9342/91 97 97 2 Email: [email protected] A brand-new MAN TGM 18.320 4x4, an expedition camper from Four Wheel 24, 600 liters of fresh water, and the grand dream of the Pan-American Highway – this project is one of the most exciting self-build projects currently emerging in the expedition vehicle scene. At the Abenteuer & Allrad show, we meet the future owner, Markus, and the specialists from Four Wheel 24, who created the technical foundation for this extraordinary world travel vehicle. The unusual paint job immediately catches the eye. The custom color is polarizing, but at the same time, it ensures that this vehicle definitely won't get lost in the crowd. What's particularly exciting is that the chassis was originally delivered as a brand-new MAN truck in a completely different color. It was then completely disassembled, repainted, and rebuilt. This enormous effort demonstrates the highly individualized planning of this project. The base is a MAN TGM 18.320 with all-wheel drive and 320 hp. The chassis offers ideal conditions for long-distance travel and demanding off-road adventures. The camper box has an interior length of approximately 5.30 meters and an interior height of about 2.10 meters, providing ample space for a fully equipped living area, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a spacious sleeping area. The construction of the box is especially noteworthy. Four Wheel 24 uses a high-quality sandwich construction with 60-millimeter-thick walls, robust GRP layers inside and out, and a high-density foam core. This design ensures high stability, excellent insulation, and the necessary durability for travel around the globe. The many well-thought-out details also demonstrate the wealth of experience that has gone into this vehicle. The robust roof rack allows for the transport of additional equipment while simultaneously providing convenient access to the roof. Special steps have been integrated directly into the paneling, making climbing in and out significantly easier and safer. The vehicle also features a professional quad and motorcycle carrier capable of handling heavy loads. But the real highlight of this project is the planned self-build. Markus is handling the entire interior conversion himself. This means maximum freedom in the design and, at the same time, considerable cost savings. While professional conversions can quickly devour six-figure sums, the owner is investing his own time and creating a vehicle that is precisely tailored to his personal needs. The plans include a spacious sleeping area, a separate entrance bathroom, a comfortable seating area, and a functional kitchen for long journeys. The floor plans were analyzed at trade fairs, events, and based on numerous expedition vehicles, and then further developed individually. From initial sketches on graph paper, a fully equipped world-traveling vehicle is now taking shape, step by step. The pre-installed technical equipment is also impressive. The fresh water tank alone holds around 600 liters, making even extended stays far from civilization easily possible. This level of self-sufficiency is a huge advantage, especially for trips through North Africa, South America, or remote regions of Europe. Another benefit of a self-conversion lies in later service and maintenance. Having installed every pipe, screw, and cable yourself means you know exactly where to look in case of a problem. This saves time, money, and stress – especially on long journeys far from workshops and service partners. Of course, such a project isn't for the impatient. Besides the furniture, the electrical system, water system, lighting, heating, ventilation, and numerous other components need to be installed. This quickly adds up to well over 1,000 hours of work. But that's precisely what makes it so appealing to many self-builders: transforming an empty suitcase into their personal dream vehicle, step by step. This MAN TGM expedition vehicle impressively demonstrates the immense potential of a professionally prepared self-conversion. The combination of robust off-road technology, high-quality construction, and individual design makes this project a true dream for world travelers and adventure enthusiasts. The planned Pan-American Highway is just the beginning of what will hopefully be a long journey. #ExpeditionVehicle #MAN_TGM #FourWheel24 #WorldTrip #PanAmericanHighway #AdventureAllWheelDrive #OffroadCamper #AllWheelDriveTruck #OverlandingVehicle #ExpeditionTruck #SelfConversion #CampervanConversion #Overlanding #4x4Travel #WorldTravelVehicle #TruckLife #Camping2026 #GermanTelevision #OffroadAdventure #ExpeditionVehicle
