Coles faces Federal Court over fake discount claims | 7NEWS
The ACCC has launched Federal Court proceedings against Coles, alleging the supermarket giant misled consumers with fake discounts on 245 common household products including biscuits, yoghurt and dog food. The consumer watchdog claims Coles sold items at regular prices for over six months before temporarily increasing prices, then reducing them as part of their 'down down' sales campaign. If successful, the case could result in hundreds of millions in fines and potential class action lawsuits, with similar proceedings also underway against Woolworths.
