Caso Tadeo: Redefiniendo el autogobierno en México | Saskia Niño de Rivera | TEDxTecdeMty

Saskia shares her experience with the Tadeo case and how it changed the criminal justice and prison system in Mexico. Co-founder and spokesperson for Reinserta, she holds a degree in Psychology and is a member of the Comprehensive Protection System for Children and Adolescents in Mexico City. She is also a member of the National Security Council, appointed directly by the President of the Republic as a representative of civil society. She participated in the development of the United Nations Advanced Standards for the Mexican Penitentiary System with the UNODC. She is a speaker on topics such as rebuilding the social fabric, reintegration, security, and children in prison. Thanks to her work, she won the 2019 Leadership in Public Life Award from Vital Voices. On behalf of Reinserta, she received the Love Prize for Youth Advocacy at the 17th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates. She is the winner of the Recognition of Commitment to Others 2019 from CEMEFI and the “International Award 2020” from the Diane Von Furstenberg Foundation. She is co-author of the book “Un Sicario en Cada Hijo te Dio”, and “No es No”. President of Reinserta; non-profit organization that exists in order to improve security in the country, working with the Invisible Mexico: our prisons. Understanding that the prison system is a central axis for this, we work with the population of women, boys and girls who are born and live in prison, as well as in reintegration programs for adolescents who are or were in conflict with the law and we take legal defense of people who are unjustly in jail.
