كيف وصل الإسلام إلى الجزائر: من عقبة بن نافع إلى الكاهنة | محاضرة للنوم
In the 740s, the first Arab army arrived from Egypt. They defeated the Byzantines at Sbeitla, collected spoils, and departed—as if nothing had happened. Then came the Great Fitna (civil war), and the Muslims became preoccupied with their own internal affairs, and everything returned to the way it had been. Then Mu'awiya sent Uqba ibn Nafi—and for the first time, he did not come to plunder and return, but to stay. He built Kairouan from nothing in an empty plain, and it became the first Islamic capital in the Maghreb. Then Uqba crossed all of North Africa until he stopped his horse at the Atlantic Ocean and said, "Were it not for this sea, I would have continued on." But he insulted Kusayla, the Berber leader of the Awraba tribe—so Kusayla ambushed him at Tahuda, near Biskra, and killed him. Kusayla seized Kairouan itself, and the Arabs withdrew to Libya. Then Zuhayr ibn Qays returned and killed Kusayla—then the Byzantines killed him on the coast. Then Hassan ibn al-Nu'man came with the largest Arab army to enter the region and utterly destroyed Carthage—and from its ashes, Tunisia was born. Then he asked: Who is the strongest enemy left? They said: The Kahina (priestess). The Queen of Jarawa in the Aurès Mountains. She defeated him in the first battle and drove him out to Libya. Then she burned her farms and villages to deprive the Arabs of any reason to return—and thus lost her people. Then Hassan returned and defeated her, and she was killed. Then Musa ibn Nusayr completed the conquest and appointed a Berber named Tariq ibn Ziyad as commander—and crossed the Strait into Spain. Then the Berbers converted to Islam, but they demanded equality, which they did not receive—so they revolted like the Kharijites and established independent states, such as the Rustamids in Tahert. Then the Maliki school of thought became established, Sufism spread, and Kairouan became a beacon of knowledge. Fifty years of wars—then centuries of slow transformation that created the Algeria we know. In one night. ⚠️ This content is intended for educational and cultural purposes.
