The lime kilns in the center of Gogolin were built in 1874 and are a symbol of the lime industry, which led to the transformation of Gogolin into one of the most important lime production centers in Upper Silesia. The kilns were built of crushed limestone, fastened with steel clamps for reinforcement. The interior was lined with refractory brick. Each kiln has three extraction openings on the ground floor, each closed by a full arch. In the conical kiln, shallow recesses, each closed by a full arch, were located between the extraction openings. The Silesian folk song "Poszła Karolinka do Gogolina" ("Karolinka Went to Gogolin") touched the hearts of many and became an inseparable part of the people's heritage. It gained extraordinary fame and was commemorated with a monument.
