Transpersonal Astrology TPA An Introduction (1) with Christopher Weidner Michael Roscher (1960–2005) founded the School for Transpersonal Astrology, or TPA for short, in the 1980s. In this school, he combined extensive experience from his tireless consulting practice with modern ideas about the interaction between the individual and the world, without forgetting the roots of astrology. It was important to him to practice astrology within the framework of a logic that allows people to recognize the essence of the horoscope. This led to the development of interpretive methods that allow a systematic approach to the horoscope and simultaneously achieve a depth of interpretation that is unattainable in conventional astrology. Michael Roscher's legacy consists of astrological methods such as the Cybernetic Model and the Critical Degrees. Although only a few astrologers consistently interpret according to TPA today, many of his books are considered standard works in German-language astrology. For a long time, I was a student of transpersonal astrology and received my astrological training there. For many years, I taught transpersonal astrology alongside Michael Roscher and Brigitte Hamann. Now I would like to share my appreciation for this astrological system with all those interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the horoscope. In my view, there is no astrological method that can describe a person's personality more coherently and accurately than TPA. One key to this is the reduction to the essentials—the reason why, in TPA, we can penetrate to the core of a person's being by considering only a few factors in the horoscope. With this introduction, I would like to begin a series on transpersonal astrology in which I will answer these questions: What is the view of humanity held by transpersonal astrology (TPA)? What specific ideas does transpersonal astrology pursue when interpreting the horoscope? What distinguishes transpersonal astrology (TPA) from other contemporary astrological schools?
