DRC Conflict | SANDF's role in DRC explained
South African National Defence Force General Rudzani Maphwanya has explained the deployment of SANDF soldiers to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His comments come on the back of Rwandan President Paul Kagame insisting that SADC armies, including the SANDF, have no place in the DRC war and are not a peacekeeping force. Maphwanya says their mandate, among others, is to support the DRC in neutralising forces and armed groups in the Eastern DRC in order to restore and maintain peace and security. Maphwanya has sent heartfelt condolences to the families of the thirteen members who died in the East of DRC. For more this story we are joined in studio by SABC News Reporter Khayelihle Khumalo.
