Join us for a walk around Bodmin, Cornwall, England, UK. We explore Bodmin town centre, starting our walk on Lower Bore Street by Bodmin Computers. We walk down Fore Street and Honey Street and through Mount Folly Square, passing Capitol Cinema Bodmin, Bodmin Town Museum and Shire Hall Bodmin. Bodmin is a town in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated south-west of Bodmin Moor. Bodmin was formerly the county town of Cornwall until the Crown Courts moved to Truro which is also the administrative centre (before 1835 the county town was Launceston). Bodmin Jail (alternatively Bodmin Gaol) is a historic former prison situated in Bodmin, on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. Built in 1779 and closed in 1927, a large range of buildings fell into ruin, but parts of the prison have been turned into a tourist attraction, and more recently another large part was converted into a hotel. Since Bodmin Jail closed in 1927 there has been no prison within the county of Cornwall. Shire Hall is a former judicial facility at Mount Folly Square in Bodmin, Cornwall. It was the main courthouse in Cornwall from 1838 to 1988 and is now a tourist information centre. It is a Grade II listed building. Bodmin Parkway railway station – once known as Bodmin Road – is a principal calling point on the Cornish Main Line about 3½ miles south-east of Bodmin town centre. Buses to central Bodmin, Wadebridge, Padstow, Rock, Polzeath, Port Isaac and Camelford depart from outside the station entrance. It is connected to Bodmin town by a branch line that is home to the local steam railway, Bodmin and Wenford Railway. Bodmin is just off the A30 providing a connection to the M5 motorway at Exeter 62 miles northeast. Bus and coach services connect Bodmin with some other districts of Cornwall and Devon.
