Dot Convention in Magnetically Coupled Circuits
In this video, Dot Convention in Magnetically Coupled circuits has been explained. Magnetically coupled circuits: When time-varying current flows through one coil, it generates magnetic field or flux. When this magnetic flux gets coupled to the nearby coil then the voltage will be induced in the nearby coil. So, such circuits can be called as magnetically coupled circuits, as magnetic flux of one circuit has been coupled to the nearby circuit. Dot Convention: 1) If two currents are entering (leaving) into the dot at the same time then voltage generated due to mutual coupling will be positive. 2) If one current is entering (leaving) the dot and another current is leaving (entering) the dot then voltage generated due to mutual coupling will be negative.
