City Advocacy Forum: An Interview with Lay Bee Yap
Lay Bee Yap is the Group Director of Architecture and Urban Design at the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore. She is Secretary of the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize and was Co-Commissioner for the Singapore Pavilion at the 17th & 18th annual presentations of the Venice Biennale. “In addition to densifying the downtown core, we’ve developed a polycentric city, similar to other cities, to create other economic hubs that will capture growth opportunities. This will mean bringing jobs closer to home, reducing the traffic and commuting to the city center, and each of these neighborhoods are then designed to be self-sufficient.”
