Story Behind the Setup: Episode 3 - Viktor Örtegren and the Schmiedmann BMW M2 G87

Welcome to Episode 3 of our series “Story Behind the Setup.” This time, we take a closer look at the Schmiedmann BMW M2 G87 and the vision behind it together with Viktor Örtegren – CEO of Schmiedmann Sweden and passionate Nürburgring enthusiast. The goal of the project was clear from the start: to build a true sub-7 track tool for the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Based on the BMW M2 G87, the setup combines lightweight carbon fibre parts, aero upgrades, serious heat management – and one of the most important elements for fast lap times: suspension. That search led Viktor to the BILSTEIN EVO R – a handcrafted, lightweight motorsport suspension developed for maximum grip, direct feedback and uncompromising performance on track. For this project, the suspension was tuned to Viktor’s specifications on the BILSTEIN 7-post rig right next to the Nürburgring.
