Benedicto Lacerda and the Golden Age of Choro Flute Playing with Julie Koidin
Julie Koidin will present material from her doctoral dissertation on Brazilian flutist, Benedicto Lacerda, a trend-setter during choro’s “Golden Age” (1920s-50s). Lacerda’s unique approach to choro interpretation was emulated by flutists and other instrumentalists. His tone, vibrato, and unique improvisations and swing all set the standard for future generations. If you enjoy this content, consider becoming a member of the National Flute Association.
