Poor Man's Downrigger Setup | Catch More Crappie with this Rig

These are the two ways I rig my "downriggers" to add jigs while trolling crankbaits or longlining! This absolutely helps me catch more crappie. I use 1oz weights when running with longlines (boat speed 0.6-1.1 mph). I use 5oz weights when running with crankbaits (boat speed 1.5-2.0mph). Nothing is better about finding out what works best for you than time on the water. Give these two setups a chance, try them both to see which one works best for you. You can also try different weights, the 1oz and 5oz work for me. A 2oz or 3oz may work better for you.
