BABY'S DEVELOPMENT As the sixth month progresses, the fetus experiences rapid growth and development. Lanugo, the fine hair that covers the fetus's body, is still present, and the vernix caseosa, a protective substance, becomes more prominent, providing a barrier against amniotic fluid.
