Christian Pastor Attacks Indigenous Traditions—Then Claims Persecution

Pastor Sarah Lucas of Foundations For Nations Church condemned the Northern Arapaho Tribe’s sacred Sun Dance ceremony as “idol worship”—while preaching from within Wyoming’s Wind River Indian Reservation. After more than 100 tribal members peacefully protested and leaders asked her to leave, Lucas refused, portrayed herself as a Christian martyr, and began raising money for a supposed legal battle—even though the church sits on private property and no formal eviction appears to exist. Her connections to Christian nationalist preacher Andrew Wommack and Charis Bible College make this bigger than one offensive sermon. It’s another example of evangelical Christians treating Indigenous communities as territories to conquer. The Northern Arapaho aren’t attacking Christianity; many protesters are Christians themselves. They’re demanding the mutual respect Lucas refuses to give them.
