The gardening world however, has lots of tall vines. What makes the hyacinth bean plant unique? It's those purple pods. In fact, we wonder if the writer of the fairy tale Jack And The Beanstalk got his idea for the tale from this plant. No matter, when I see the vine growing, and see the seed pods in the fall that look like beans, I think of the fairy tale. This plant however, is not fiction. It's real and beautiful.
