A MIRACLE in Ponta Delgada | On the Azores Route ep. 6 | Portugal After passing through Ribeira Grande in the last episode, we finally got to know Ponta Delgada, the city where we were staying. We passed by the Ponta Delgada City Hall and went straight to our much-anticipated Mané Cigano Restaurant. There we ate Albacore steak, a type of tuna, with roasted beans and browned potatoes – what a delicious lunch! We passed by the Portas do Mar, where the Ponta Delgada marina is located. We passed by the Ponta Delgada Military Museum, which is in the Fort. And very close by is the Santo Cristo dos Milagres Sanctuary, where the biggest religious festivities of São Miguel take place. We tried to go to the José do Canto Botanical Garden on the recommendation of our patron Silvia, but we ran into the gate closing... Undeterred, we rushed to see the Graça Municipal Market, picked out some fruits, Tietchan showed us how to choose a good pineapple, but that full video at the Graça Municipal Market will be for another episode. Erica – the daughter of Japanese parents – followed the path of many Brazilian dekasegi (Japanese-Brazilian migrant workers), and went to work in the land of the rising sun in 2003, where she lived for 5 years.
