Wheel of the Year: The Constant Path : The Great Plateau
New to the journey? You can catch up on previous episodes here- • Watching the Seasons - A Year in the Woods Welcome to The Living Almanac: A Year of Witnessing on The Constant Path. Week 11 of The Living Almanac: The frantic rush of growth has settled, leaving the woods standing in a heavy, powerful plateau. In this week's Living Almanac, we immerse ourselves in this suspended high-summer energy, pausing for a quiet, mindful moment by the roots of our great ancient tree friend Big Beech. We also look closely at the medicine, magic, and folklore of the midsummer patch: the protective armor of St. John’s Wort, the stabilising fortification of Wood Betony, the abundance of Red Clover, and the complicated ecological story of the invasive Hollyberry Cotoneaster. In a world that demands we move faster, we are choosing to slow down. We are walking the exact same trail through our favourite woods every week/two weeks for a full turn of the Wheel of the Year. While the path remains constant, the land never stays the same. Through consistent vantage points and side by side comparisons, we are documenting the "micro-shifts" of the seasons in real time. 💬 The Conversation: As this will be a regular walk, if you notice something you’d like us to take a closer look at next time let us know in the comments.
